After a two-week trial, a Skagit County (Mount Vernon, WA) jury returned a $2,295,853 verdict for a Dearie Law Group client. Trial Attorney Ray Dearie served as lead trial counsel, associating on the case with another local law firm that represented the client throughout pre-trial litigation and trial.
The case arose from a December 4, 2017 head-on car crash on a two-lane highway in Sedro-Woolley, Washington. As a result, Dearie Law Group’s 66-year-old client sustained a heel and ankle fracture.
Both drivers — Dearie Law Group’s client and the Defendant — claimed that the other crossed the centerline and caused the crash. As a result, the Defendant denied liability for causing the crash throughout trial, asked the jury to find no liability on his part, and to award Dearie Law Group’s client nothing. Ultimately, the jury found the Defendant 80% at-fault for causing the crash, and awarded Dearie Law Group’s client $2,295,853 in past and future damages.
As lead trial counsel, Ray is immensely thankful to the members of the jury for their hard work and attention during the case.
